Charging ports have a hard life. Pocket lint gets packed in a little deeper with every plug, pins bend, and the contacts simply wear from thousands of connections. The first sign is usually a cable that only charges at an angle, or a phone that charges overnight but not from a quick top-up.

It is not always the port, though. Sometimes the fix is nothing more than clearing out compacted lint. When the port itself is worn, we replace the whole sub-board it sits on with an original Samsung part, which is a cleaner and more reliable repair than reworking a single connector.

The list below covers Galaxy A phones through to the S range and the folding models. Pick yours, and the price you see includes the original part and the fitting. All work happens at our authorised Samsung service centre in Umhlanga Ridge.

Common questions

My phone only charges if I hold the cable at a certain angle. Is the port broken?

That is the most common port complaint we hear. It usually means the pins inside are worn or bent, or lint has been compacted at the bottom of the port so the cable cannot seat fully. Either way it will not fix itself, and forcing the cable in makes it worse.

Could it just be my cable or charger?

It can be, and it is worth ruling that out first. Try a different cable and adapter that you know work on another device. If the problem follows the phone, the port is the likely cause.

What exactly gets replaced?

On most Samsung models the charging port sits on a small sub-board inside the phone. We fit a complete original Samsung sub-board rather than reworking the old connector, which makes for a more dependable repair.

Where do I bring the phone?
