My Fold4 screen is cracked. Which screen, and what is the price?
The 6.2 inch cover screen is R3 540 fitted and the 7.6 inch folding inner display is R16 570 fitted. Just over R13 000 separates them, so what a Fold4 screen repair costs depends entirely on which panel took the damage. Outer glass shattered while the phone was closed is the cover screen. A dead band down the fold, a half that will not light, or touch that stops near the crease is the inner display. Both parts are certified original and carry a three month warranty on the part and the work.
Fold4 or Fold5, how do I tell them apart?
Close the phone and look at it side on. A Fold4 leaves a visible wedge gap between the two halves. The Fold5 shuts flat. Confirm with the model number: SM-F936 or SM-F936B is the Fold4, SM-F946B is the Fold5. The inner display prices are close at R16 570 and R16 389, but the parts and the hinge assemblies are not the same and cannot be swapped.
What usually needs doing on a four year old Fold4?
Batteries and charging ports, well before screens. The 4400mAh battery is R2 951 and the charging port is R1 836, both fitted, and most of that work is back within three working days. Rear glass is R1 712. Those three together still come to less than half of the R16 570 inner display, which is the number that decides whether an older Fold is worth keeping.
