Common questions

The A15 4G and A15 5G look identical. How do I tell them apart?

By the model number, because the two look the same and both carry the 6.5 inch Super AMOLED. The 4G is SM-A155F and the 5G is SM-A156, and the code sits under Settings, About phone, Model number. Bring the phone in if you would rather we read it off for you before anything is ordered.

Is an A15 worth repairing at three years old?

Yes. The battery at R1 196, the charging port at R567 and the back cover at R619 are all modest amounts to spend on a phone from 2023. The screen is the expensive one at R2 019, which is what a 6.5 inch Super AMOLED costs, and it lands slightly above the larger A16 panel at R2 000. If the rest of the handset is sound, all four A15 repairs are worth doing.

There is a faint shadow of the status bar on my A15 display. Can that be fixed?

Only by replacing the panel, which is the R2 019 job. Super AMOLED screens like the A15's can hold a faint image where something static has sat for years, and the A13 and A14 before it used LCDs, which do not do this. It is cosmetic rather than a fault, so if it does not bother you in daily use, leave it alone.
