Common questions
My Fold4 dies at 20 percent. Is that the battery?
Almost certainly. Worn cells lose the ability to hold voltage under load, so the gauge reads 20 percent one moment and the phone cuts out the next. It is the classic sign of cycle wear rather than a software fault, and a new original battery is the fix.
Does fast charging wear the Fold4 battery out quicker?
Heat and cycles are what age lithium cells, and Samsung's charging system manages both, so normal use at the supported speeds is fine. What no battery escapes is cycle count. After a few years of daily charging, capacity drops, and that is when replacement makes sense.
Will my apps and data survive a battery replacement?
Yes. A battery swap does not involve the phone's storage, so apps, photos and settings stay put. We still recommend a backup before any repair, the same advice we give for every service, simply because a current backup is always worth having.
