Why does my Flip5 only work with one specific cable?
When a port wears, some cables still make just enough contact and others do not. It feels like a cable problem, but the socket is the real fault, and it will keep narrowing down which cables work until none do. Replacing the sub-board sorts it properly.
Can lint really stop a phone charging?
Absolutely. Every time you plug in, the cable compresses pocket lint at the bottom of the socket. Eventually the plug cannot seat deep enough to make contact. We check and clean the port before condemning it, so you only pay for the repair the phone actually needs.
How should I look after the new port?
Keep the port dry, avoid charging with the cable under tension, and do not force a plug that does not want to seat. A blast of clean air now and then keeps lint from packing down. Good cables matter too, since cheap frayed ones chew up the contacts.
