Common questions
My computer no longer recognises the A24 when I plug it in. Is that the port?
If charging is also unreliable, very likely. Data transfer uses more of the port's pins than charging does, so it often fails first as the contacts wear. A new original sub-board restores both charging and data through the same connector.
Can I clean the port at home first?
You can try gently, with the phone off and something soft and non-metallic, like a plastic toothpick rather than a pin or paperclip. Metal tools bend contacts and make things worse. If cleaning does not help, the pins are likely worn and the board needs replacing.
Why replace a whole board just for a port?
The port on the A24 is mounted on a small sub-board, and that board is the part Samsung supplies for this repair. Replacing it complete is more reliable than soldering a new socket onto an old board, and the result is a connection at factory spec.
