Most Galaxy S9+ phones we see come in for one of three things: a cracked screen, a battery that no longer lasts the day, or a charging port that has to be held at just the right angle. All are normal wear on a 2018 flagship, and all are repairable.

Common questions
My S9+ will not switch on. How do I find the model code?
It is printed on the SIM tray, and on the box if you still have it. The S9+ is SM-G965F, and the S8+ that looks almost identical to it is SM-G955F. Bring the phone to the counter in Umhlanga and we will read the code off it, since the tray can be pulled and read with the phone dead.
What tends to go first on an S9+ at this age?
The 3500mAh battery, usually. Eight years of charge cycles means most S9+ phones now manage half a day, and at R1 190 the battery is the cheapest of the four parts we fit on an S9+. After that it is the USB-C port at R1 451 and the glass back at R1 266, both ordinary wear on a March 2018 phone.
The screen is R4 934. Is that worth it?
Only if the rest of the phone is sound and you intend to keep it, because that figure is more than the battery, back cover and charging port added together. The curved Quad HD+ panel comes from Samsung as a full assembly bonded to the frame, which is why it is by far the biggest job on this device. On a 2018 phone with no further Samsung updates, most people are better off spending the R1 190 on a battery and living with the crack.
