Common questions

S22+ or S22, how do I tell which one I have?

SM-S906E is the S22+ and SM-S901E is the S22, both under Settings, then About phone. Side by side the plus is clearly the bigger one, 6.6 inches against 6.1, and it carries a 4500mAh battery where the S22 has 3700mAh. From the back the two look near enough identical, so go by the model number rather than the shape before booking a part.

How does it compare with the S21+ it replaced?

It is slightly smaller and holds less charge. The S22+ is 6.6 inches with 4500mAh, where the January 2021 S21+ was 6.7 inches with 4800mAh, so people moving up a generation often notice a shorter day rather than a longer one. On repairs the S22+ screen is R4 344 against R4 800 for the S21+, and the two back covers sit R14 apart at R1 714 and R1 700.

Both faces are glass. What does that mean if I drop it?

Either side can break on its own. The front is the 6.6 inch panel at R4 344 and the rear is the R1 714 back cover, and a fall that lands flat on the back often leaves the display working perfectly, in which case only the cover gets replaced. Both together is R6 058, which is worth knowing before you decide on a February 2022 phone.
