Which Note9 do these prices cover?

SM-N960F and SM-N960F/DS, the Exynos Note9 sold in South Africa, in single SIM and dual SIM form. The code sits under Settings, About phone, Model number. The American SM-N960U is built on a different board, so a part sold against that code is not the same part.

How do I tell a Note9 from a Note8?

Look at where the fingerprint reader sits. On the Note9 it is a separate pad centred below the camera bar; on the Note8 it is squeezed in beside the lenses. The Note9 is also the bigger phone at 6.4 inches with a 4000mAh battery, against the Note8's 6.3 inches and 3300mAh, and nothing crosses between them, S Pen included.

The Note9 is from 2018. Which of these three repairs still makes sense?

The battery at R1 265, in most cases. A 4000mAh cell that has been charged daily since 2018 is usually what makes an otherwise fine Note9 feel finished, and it is the smallest of the three spends. The screen at R5 300 is the one to weigh up, because the layer that reads the S Pen comes as part of the display assembly and that is why it costs what it does. If only the pen has stopped working, that is R1 000 and a much easier decision.
