The Galaxy S23 FE gives you the core S23 experience at a friendlier price point, and it has sold well in South Africa for exactly that reason. It is still a glass and aluminium phone though, and the 6.4 inch AMOLED screen and glass back do break.

Yes. SM-S711B and SM-S711BE are both the Galaxy S23 FE and they take the same parts, so the S23 FE prices apply either way. The model number sits under Settings, About phone, and we confirm it off the phone itself before any part is ordered.
Is the S23 FE cheaper to repair than the ordinary S23?
In three places out of four. The back cover is R1 389 against R2 060 on the S23, the charging port R1 215 against R1 569, and the battery R1 373 against R1 700, which makes those three the cheapest anywhere in the S23 range. The screen is the exception, at R3 760 against the S23's R3 712, so the cheaper phone to buy is not the cheaper phone to reglaze.
Should I fix this one or move up to an S24 FE?
It depends which repair. The S23 FE went on sale in October 2023 with five years of security patches, so it stays covered to about October 2028, and a battery at R1 373 or a port at R1 215 buys back two more years for very little. A screen at R3 760 is a bigger question on a three year old phone. For what it is worth, the S24 FE is a year newer with seven years of patches, 6.7 inch instead of 6.4, 4700mAh instead of 4500, and Gorilla Glass Victus+ on the front where this one has Gorilla Glass 5.
