Is the S10e the same phone as the S10 Lite?
No, and this one catches people out. The S10e is SM-G970F, the small flat-screened member of the March 2019 S10 range, with a 5.8 inch Full HD+ display and the fingerprint reader in the power button. The Galaxy S10 Lite is SM-G770F, a separate phone released the following year. Check Settings, About phone, Model number before you book, because no parts cross between them.
Why is the S10e cheaper to repair than the S10 and S10+?
Its screen is a simpler part. At 5.8 inches, flat and Full HD+ rather than curved and Quad HD+, the S10e panel is R4 465 against R5 121 for the S10 and R5 711 for the S10+. The charging port follows the same pattern at R950, the cheapest of the three. Of the 2019 S10 models, the S10e is the one where a screen replacement is easiest to justify.
Should I still put money into an S10e?
For a battery or a port, yes. The 3100mAh cell is the smallest in the S10 range and it has seven years of charge cycles behind it, so R1 165 is the repair that changes how the phone behaves day to day, and R950 covers a port that has gone loose or stopped charging. The screen at R4 465 is a real spend on a March 2019 phone, and worth measuring against what an S10e is worth to you now.
