Common questions
Do these prices cover the A71 5G as well?
No. This page is for the SM-A715F, the 4G A71 that arrived in January 2020. The A71 5G is a separate phone sold as SM-A716B or SM-A716F, built on the Exynos 980 and released later that year, and it takes its own parts. Check Settings, About phone, Model number, and tell us what it reads when you book.
Is an A71 still worth repairing?
For the battery at R1 125 or the charging port at R789, usually yes, since both are wear items and the rest of the phone is normally sound. The R3 429 screen is the harder call on a January 2020 handset, and if the 4500mAh battery is tired as well you are at R4 554 on a six year old phone. Whichever way that goes, the part and the work carry a three month warranty, and the phone is back with you in three working days.
How does the A71 compare to the A72, and why is its screen dearer?
The A72 came a year later with a 90Hz screen, a 5000mAh battery, an IP67 rating and a 3x telephoto camera, and the A71 has none of those. The A71 has no water resistance rating at all, so a wet one needs to come in the same day rather than sit in a bowl of rice. On price, an A71 screen is R3 429 against R2 860 for the newer A72, because service part prices follow what Samsung charges for the panel now, not how old the phone is.
