The A36 5G is the newest phone on this page, but new does not mean immune. A slip from a car seat cracks a 2025 screen as easily as a 2019 one, and the sooner it is repaired properly the better the phone holds its value.

What did the A36 change from the A35?
It grew, it charges faster and it changed chipset. The A36 5G runs a 6.7 inch 120Hz Super AMOLED against the A35's 6.6 inch, charges at 45W where the A35 topped out at 25W, and uses a Snapdragon 6 Gen 3 in place of the Exynos 1380. Both keep Gorilla Glass Victus+ front and back and a 5000mAh battery. The panels are not interchangeable, and the A36's is the cheaper of the two at R2 995 against R3 722.
The A36 has a glass back. Does that change anything before I book?
It changes what you should expect to pay if you have dropped it. The A36's back is a Gorilla Glass Victus+ panel rather than the plastic used on the A34 and earlier, and a fall hard enough to break a 6.7 inch front will often take the back with it. The cover is R1 116 and the screen R2 995, so budget for both if the phone went down on a corner. The two together come to R4 111.
