Common questions
My A12 says SM-A125F but the code listed is SM-A127F. Is it the wrong device?
No, it is the right one. Samsung sold two versions of the Galaxy A12 under the same name, the original SM-A125F and the later SM-A127F with a different processor, sometimes called the A12 Nacho. They share the same 6.5 inch PLS LCD and the same 5000mAh battery, so the repairs and the prices apply to both. We read the code off the phone at the counter before anything is ordered.
Is a 2021 A12 still worth putting a new screen into?
Usually yes. At R1 627 the A12 panel is the cheapest of these A series screens, below the A13 at R2 089 and the A11 at R2 153, even though all three are the same kind of LCD. On a handset that still handles calls and WhatsApp without complaint, that is a reasonable amount to spend to keep it running.
What tends to go wrong on an A12 at five years old?
Wear rather than damage. The USB socket loosens after five years of plugging and collecting lint, which is the R526 job, and the 5000mAh cell no longer holds what it did when new, which is R1 078. The two together come to R1 604, under the R1 627 the screen costs, so an A12 with a tired battery and a loose port is still worth sorting out.
