What is the difference between the A04, A04s and A04e?
Three separate phones with three separate sets of parts. The A04 is SM-A045F, with a 50MP main camera, a 60Hz screen and no fingerprint reader. The A04s (SM-A047F) adds a 90Hz screen, an Exynos 850 and a fingerprint reader in the power button, while the A04e (SM-A042F) drops to a 13MP camera and no fast charging. All three carry a 6.5 inch HD+ LCD, so check the code in Settings, About phone before you book.
The screen on my A04 is black but it still rings. Will I lose my data?
No, a screen replacement leaves the phone's contents alone. Worth knowing on this model: the A04 has no fingerprint reader, only face unlock and a PIN or pattern, so once the R1 748 panel is fitted you will need that PIN to get back in. Bring it with you and the phone starts up on the same data.
The A04 is a 2022 phone. Which repairs still make sense?
The cheaper ones, comfortably. It was released in August 2022, so a R567 back cover, a R590 charging port or a R1 183 battery all buy useful time. The R1 748 screen is the figure to weigh against what the phone is worth to you now, and if the glass is cracked while touch still works you can run it a while longer, though cracks spread and moisture through a crack finishes the panel.
