Is the 8.7 inch Tab A9 the same tablet as the 11 inch Tab A9+?
No, they are separate tablets with separate parts. The Wi-Fi Tab A9 is the SM-X110, with an 8.7 inch 1340 x 800 screen at 60Hz and a Helio G99 chip, while the A9+ runs an 11 inch 1920 x 1200 panel at 90Hz on a Snapdragon 695. The size and resolution gap is why this screen is R2 382 and the A9+ screen is R2 787.
Is a 2023 Wi-Fi tablet worth a R2 382 screen?
Usually. Nothing in the SM-X110 wears out on a three year timeline apart from the 5100mAh battery, and a tablet that stays on the house Wi-Fi is not doing hard hours. The judgement call comes with a tablet that has been dropped repeatedly, because a frame that has opened up at a corner will not hold a new panel flat, and we would rather check that before you spend the money.
Why is screen replacement the only repair priced for this tablet?
Because it is what the Tab A9 comes in for. The SM-X110 screen is R2 382 with the part and the fitting included, and the 8.7 inch panel is the part that breaks on a tablet this size. If your fault is something else, bring the tablet in and we will look at it and tell you what can be done before any work starts.
