What actually changed between the S23 and the S24?

Less in the hand than on paper. The S24, model SM-S921B, is 6.2 inch against 6.1, 4000mAh against 3900mAh, and much brighter at 2 600 nits against 1 750, in a body of almost the same size. The change that matters now is support: the S24 was promised seven Android upgrades and seven years of security patches from January 2024, where the S23 got four and five. Parts do not swap between the two, so confirm the model number before anything is ordered.

Is the S24 screen the same panel as the S24+?

No, and the prices show it. The S24 is a 6.2 inch Full HD+ panel at R3 718, while the S24+ is 6.7 inch QHD+ at R4 858. The batteries separate the same way, 4000mAh at R1 700 here against 4900mAh at R1 900 on the plus.

My S24 is two years old. Repair it, or put the money towards a new phone?

Repair it. This one holds Android upgrades and security patches into 2031, so nothing spent on it now goes into a dead end. A battery is R1 700, a charging port R1 382 and a screen R3 718, and even the worst of those leaves the phone with more than four years of updates still ahead of it.
