The battery graph shows heavy drain from standby. Battery or software?

Does replacing the battery affect the A73's water resistance?
The A73 carries an IP67 rating that depends on factory seals, and opening any phone disturbs those. We fit new adhesive seals when we close it up, but no repairer can re-certify the original rating. Treat any opened phone as more careful around water than a new one.
Can I just use a power bank forever instead of replacing the battery?
You can limp along that way, but a worn cell does not only drain fast. It can shut the phone down under load and it will keep degrading. A new original battery costs less than months of workarounds and makes the phone pleasant to use again.
