Common questions
Is the A03s the same phone as the A03?
No, they are separate models with separate parts. The A03s is SM-A037F: a MediaTek Helio P35, USB-C charging at 15W, and a fingerprint reader built into the power button. The A03 (SM-A035F) has a Unisoc chip, a micro-USB port and no fingerprint reader. Both use a 6.5 inch HD+ LCD, which is why the names get mixed up, so we order against the code printed on the phone.
My A03s only lasts half a day. Is a new battery worth fitting?
On this model, yes. The A03s came out in August 2021 with a 5000mAh cell, and four years of daily charging takes a big bite out of that. At R938 fitted it is the cheapest battery in this range and well under the R1 591 the screen costs.
Why does an A03s screen cost R1 591 when the phone is a 2021 model?
The glass and the LCD are one bonded assembly, so a crack means the whole unit is replaced even while the display still shows a picture. On a phone released in August 2021 that is a real chunk of its remaining value, and it is worth deciding whether you are keeping the phone another year before you book the screen. The R938 battery and R585 charging port are the two repairs that clearly pay back on this model.
