A folding screen is the reason to own a Fold5, and it is also the part with the hardest job in the phone. The 7.6 inch flexible panel bends at the crease every time you open it, and once a fault appears there it seldom stays put.

We replace inner and cover screens separately, each with an original panel calibrated for the SM-F946. Trained technicians do the fitting, which is included in the price shown.

Signs you need this repair

  • Thin green line appeared down the crease
  • Inner screen went black after closing the phone
  • Touch dead in a band across the middle
  • Crack creeping in from the top of the fold
  • Front cover screen smashed

Common questions

My Fold5 screen developed a line without being dropped. Is that repairable?

Yes, and it is a fault we recognise. Lines that appear without impact come from the flexible display layers fatiguing at the crease, and no setting or update removes them. They tend to widen or multiply with continued folding. Replacing the panel with an original calibrated part resolves it fully.

What is included in a screen replacement here?

The price shown includes the original Samsung panel for the screen you book, inner or cover, plus the complete fitting by our technicians at the Umhlanga centre. The folding screen arrives with its factory protective layer already in place, the same as on a new phone.

Should I stop folding the phone once the screen is damaged?

As much as possible, yes. Every fold works the damage deeper into the flexible layers, and pressure or trapped grit accelerates it. Moisture getting into a cracked panel makes things worse still. Park the phone on its cover screen until you can bring it in.
