The Galaxy S23 is the compact one in the range, a 6.1 inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X screen in a body that still fits comfortably in one hand. Three years on, the phones we see most often come in with cracked glass, worn batteries or a charging port that has given up.

We are an authorised Samsung service centre in Umhlanga. Every repair uses original Samsung parts fitted by trained technicians, and the price shown on each service page includes both the part and the fitting.

Common questions

How do I know I have the plain S23 and not the S23+ or the S23 FE?

Check the model number under Settings, About phone. The plain S23 is SM-S911B, the S23+ is SM-S916B and the S23 FE is SM-S711B or SM-S711BE. Size gives it away as well, since the S23 is the small one at 6.1 inch against 6.6 for the S23+ and 6.4 for the FE. Our S23 prices are for SM-S911B, and a screen, battery, port or cover off an S23+ or an S23 FE will not fit it.

The S23 came out in February 2023. Is it still worth repairing?

For a battery at R1 700 or a charging port at R1 569, yes. Samsung committed the S23 to four Android upgrades and five years of security patches from launch, so it stays patched into early 2028. The screen at R3 712 needs more thought, especially if the back cover is cracked too, because that is another R2 060 on the same phone.

Why does an S23 battery seem to run down sooner than a bigger Samsung of the same age?

It has less capacity to begin with. The S23 holds 3900mAh where the S23+ holds 4700mAh and the Ultra 5000mAh, so it goes through more full charge cycles in a year, and cycles are what age a cell. Three years of that behind a 120Hz screen is usually what people mean when they say the phone no longer lasts the day. A replacement battery is R1 700 including the fitting.
